Strong Minds,
Bright Futures:
A Partnership for
Child Mental Wellbeing
A growing statewide coalition committed to building a stronger future for Pennsylvania’s children. Launched in response to deep concerns raised by families, educators, health professionals, and youth during The Big Thing—a multi-year, community-driven research initiative, led by Children First, the Partnership is transforming how we support children’s mental health in our schools, communities, and care systems.
Across the Commonwealth, children and families are facing growing mental health challenges—but far too often, the systems meant to support them respond too late or not at all. Guided by five essential reforms, the Partnership is working across sectors to remove barriers to care, expand access to early intervention, and ensure that every child can thrive close to home. With Medicaid policies, local collaboration, and a commitment to prevention, Strong Minds, Bright Futures is building a system that works—for families, providers, and the future of Pennsylvania.

Philadelphia’s schools have become one of the most important places for children and families to access mental health support.
A new Strong Minds, Bright Futures report highlights how Philadelphia built a coordinated school-based system that connects prevention, early support, clinical care, and telehealth, while reducing barriers for families.
Read it here: strongmindspa.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/2026-Phila-SMBF-Report.pdf
The report also shows what still needs to change across PA:
• Earlier access to support
• Stronger coordination between systems
• Workforce investment
• Sustainable funding for prevention and school-based care
Because students do better when support is easier to reach.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and there’s no better way to mark it than by showing up.
Yesterday at Mental Health Advocacy Day, young people and advocates from across PA spoke directly with legislators, sharing what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to change.
We’re proud to stand with advocates, families, and partners pushing for real solutions. We also made sure everyone got a well-earned ice cream at the end of a long day.
Thank you to everyone who made yesterday possible and who is working for better mental health services in our communities.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Today we’re at a Community Resource Collaboration event with NAMI Philadelphia, connecting with partners and sharing resources to make it easier for people to find support.
Events like this matter—because access shouldn’t be complicated, and support should be easier to reach in every community.
If you’re in Philly, come stop by and connect with local organizations working to support mental health across the city.
Wishing everyone a month filled with peace, wellness, and support.
