Strong Minds,
Bright Futures:

A Partnership for Child Mental Wellbeing

A growing statewide coalition committed to building a stronger future for Pennsylvania’s children. Launched in response to deep concerns raised by families, educators, health professionals, and youth during The Big Thing—a multi-year, community-driven research initiative, led by Children First, the Partnership is transforming how we support children’s mental health in our schools, communities, and care systems.

Across the Commonwealth, children and families are facing growing mental health challenges—but far too often, the systems meant to support them respond too late or not at all. Guided by five essential reforms, the Partnership is working across sectors to remove barriers to care, expand access to early intervention, and ensure that every child can thrive close to home. With Medicaid policies, local collaboration, and a commitment to prevention, Strong Minds, Bright Futures is building a system that works—for families, providers, and the future of Pennsylvania.

This Friday at Temple University, students, professionals, and community members came together for a conversation on immigrant health, focused on understanding real barriers, exploring opportunities, and helping emerging leaders find where they can make an impact.

Events like this matter because they give students the chance to:
• Ask meaningful questions
• Build connections
• Learn how to engage in their communities

Thank you to Temple’s Eta Sigma Gamma chapter for creating space for future public health leaders to step into this work.

Too many young people are struggling and too often, support comes too late.

A new article highlights something we hear across Pennsylvania every day. From doctor’s offices to schools, there is growing recognition that youth mental health must be addressed earlier, not just in moments of crisis.

As Kate Fox of Strong Minds, Bright Futures shared, many of the programs helping students today rely on unstable funding.

This is exactly what Strong Minds, Bright Futures is working to change:
• Support in schools where kids already are
• Access to care before crisis
• A stronger, sustainable workforce
• Funding that ensures programs don’t disappear

Because early support isn’t optional, it’s essential.
